Welcome to the Gauge '3' Society's web site. We are here to support and promote modelling in Gauge '3' : Standard gauge railways running on 2½ inch gauge track.  Amongst our membership we have collectors of vintage trains, those with high pressure live steam locomotives, garden railways with continuous circuits for fast steam running and those with smaller railways using 2-rail, battery or radio control. All are equally welcome in the Gauge 3 Society.  Gauge 3 has always attracted model engineers looking for something more manageable than 5in gauge but, more recently, has also begun to attract modellers from the smaller scales who realise the satisfaction of being able to add more detail to their models. Now is the time to re-discover your garden and how a Gauge 3 line can be really attractive, yet also practical and robust. Browse through the images in these pages and you will soon be captivated! The trade has also noticed this greater interest and their increasing support is reminiscent of Gauge 'O' in the 1970s and Gauge '1' 15 years ago. We believe that Gauge '3' is starting a revival and exciting times are ahead, as more people are discovering the great pleasure that comes from building and operating the  largest scale for scenic model railways.
